March Meeting - Silk

Klamath Spinners' and Weavers' Meeting
Wednesday, March 14th, 10 am until noon (2nd Wednesday of the month)

1.       Old Business

3.       Show and Share  All Things SILK  Anything of silk or silk blend that you have made or that you think would be of interest to the Guild
4.       How to tell if a fabric/fiber is silk.
a.       Sight
b.       Touch
c.       Smell
d.       Burn Test
5.       Types of Silk fibers
6.       Types of Silk fabrics
7.       Washing Silk
8.       Dyeing Silk
9.       Knitting with Silk
10.   Weaving with Silk
11.   Felting with Silk
12.   Blending silk with wool.  At this point we will try carding with some wool and silk.  If you have a drum carder that you would like to bring, do so.
13.   Spinning with Silk.  If we have time we will spin our carded silk and or silk samples.  Bring your wheel if desired.  There will be silk for sale if you would like to take some home to try.  It will packaged in small bags priced at $3 to $5 each.

5. Showcase your colors: Every culture has colorful symbols that may be found in flags, ceremonial dress, flowers, or other art forms. Bring something you can share about your heritage and/or ancestry. Items might include (but not be limited to) fabric, fiber, ribbons, etc.
    Share your comments about this culture and any meaning you know about the symbolism of it's colors.
