10am until noon, with an opportunity work hour from noon to 1pm

Next meeting is January 9th and will be basic weaving with members bringing various looms (cardboard, Inkle, Rigid Heddle, Shaft) and any questions, and help to get new weavers started.  Members are encouraged to bring yarn and tapestry needle if they wish for weaving, but there will also be an assortment available.

We will be having our annual cookie exchange.  Please bake and bring your favorite cookie!  The idea is to bring about 2 dozen cookies to share and a plate.  Then fill your plate with cookies from all the other guild members.

Also, please bring a fiber mystery tool or mystery picture of something that may be a mystery to the other guild members, let them guess, then educate us all on your tool or mystery picture.

And, if you would like to stay for the work hour, please bring your project to work on.

Basic Weaving; table loom, rigid heddle loom or floor loom.

KSWG November 14 Meeting

Kathy Nelson will be showing us how to Andean Ply.
There will be tips and tricks for making socks.
There will be talk on blends of fibers for socks.

Please bring your wheel and a shortish piece of singles yarn (say 4-5 yards) or a couple of bobbins with different lengths that could be plied, to practice Andean plying.
Also bring any handspun socks to talk about.  What you like or dislike about them. Please bring any tips or tricks you may have on spinning for socks.

KSWG Meeting - Sept 11, 2018

Our first Guild meeting for this year 2018-2019 is Wednesday, September 11th at 10am, at the Washington Federal Conference Center, on S. 6th St.  in the big room.  We have the room until 1 pm, so if you would like to stay for the work on your project hour after the meeting, please do!  We will be talking about our upcoming year.  Please join us.

September Sip n Spin

The September Sip and Spin will be Saturday, September 8th in front of Leap of Taste, noon to 1:30pm.  We had a nice time in August there and hope you can meet us there in September!

July Sip n Spin - Brevada Brewhouse

Hi Everyone,
We are trying to get together once a month on a Saturday to Sip and Spin, but you may also bring a small project you are working on. You don't have to spin.... This is an opportunity for everyone, and especially those that cannot make it to a weekday Guild meeting.
The July Sip and Spin will be Saturday, July 7th (the 1st Saturday of the month) noon to 1:30 pm. It will be at the Brevada Brewhouse in the Campus Square shopping center. (where Matteo's used to be) Off Campus Drive.  There is shade and plenty of seating. Hope to see y'all there.

Cotton is the topic for the May meeting! Jill and Donna are leading a workshop with an overview of cotton, varieties, characteristics, and 'how to spin' cotton on a spinning wheel. Cotton fiber samples to spin will be supplied!
Bring examples of your cotton projects to share, your spinning wheel with its smallest whorl, your experiences with cotton, and of course questions!

Rigid Heddle Loom Presentation hosted by Kathleen Vaagen

Kathleen will be sharing the history and ease of using the Rigid Heddle loom.  This will be a great time to get your hands on a few different types of rigid heddle looms.  There will be plenty of hands one along with a direct warp demonstration.  We will also have a couple of shaft looms to give a comparison.  And as always, feel free to invite a guest(s).  

DONT FORGET..... there is project hour after the meeting from 12-1pm if you would like hang out and work on your project.   See you there!!

February 14th - Silk

We have a fun meeting coming up..... Silk!!! Come let your hands enjoy the pleasures of silk. Liz will be going over the process and handling of silk fiber. Feel free to bring your spinning wheels and/or spindles. If we have time at the end of the meeting we can do some spinning. Great opportunity to purchase some silk if you would like.
