KLAMATH SPINNERS’ & WEAVERS’ GUILD NEWS JANUARY 2013
Klamath
Spinners’ and Weavers’ News Guild annual dues are $10/year. Dues are due in November and can be given or
sent to our treasurer, Karen Williams, 1700 Fairmont St., Klamath Falls,
Or 97601. Thanks to everyone who has paid.
The
December meeting was a wonderful display and sharing of many guild members
tasty cookies. The ornaments that were
exchanged were delightful and it was a nice time. We discussed our upcoming retreat this month at Hunter Hot
Springs, upcoming meetings and the WeGO traveling exhibit which will be in
Klamath Falls in July.

From the Library
Guild
book review for January 2013 by Karen Williams, guild librarian
Color, A Natural History of Palette, by
Victoria Finlay, Random House, 2004, 448 pages.
(Liz Hubbard’s copy)
Ochre,
black and brown, white red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet – a
rainbow of color is explored by Ms. Finlay.
Snippets of pigment and dyeing history are brought to light with
Victoria Finlay’s travels to the far corners of Earth. Each color source and tale she seeks seems to
have past secrets of intrigue, mystery
and occasional mayhem which don’t always get fully disclosed before she is off
on another track. This book gives a
fascinating glimpse into some of the stories of pigments and dyes.
