If you have ads you would like to be put in the newsletter, please send them to me via email or snail mail by the end of the previous month before the issue you would like it in.  It will be in the newsletter for 2 months unless I hear from you otherwise. Thanks.

The sale of Dorothy’s weaving treasures went well.  Thank you to everyone.

This is most embarrassing.  My email address is wrong on the Guild Membership list. Please note that it should be:  Ballen004@yahoo.com.  K

This Month’s Meeting

This month’s meeting will be Tuesday, March 13 at 10am in the back room of the Klamath County Museum. Karla will be bringing in the tapestry squares that many of the guild members have created and we will decide what to do with them.

From the Library

From the guild library

Foot Treadle Loom Weaving, Edward Worst, 1976, Cloudburst Press (revised and retitled version of Foot Power Loom Weaving, 1924, Bruce Publishing Company) not currently a part of the guild library

This is detailed text of handweaving equipment and methods, as well as outlining many traditional weaving drafts.  There are diagrams of design and construction of looms and other weaving equipment; included are explanations of warping, beaming, threading the reed, and use of shuttles, bobbin winder, swifts and temples.  The final chapter discusses vegetable dye recipes.

Mr. Worst was an active contemporary of a number of the Appalachian Craft Revival (late 1800s-early 1900s) weavers mentioned in the book, Weavers of the Southern Highlands (see guild newsletter for September 2011).

Something exciting…..

There may be a new Sheep to Shawl team competing at the Black Sheep Gathering this year! More on that next month…..
